Testimonials

"Having Pathfinder provide care management for my mother these past few years has made all the difference in the world. Mom was almost ninety and in the early stages of Alzheimer’s when we first met. With me living in California and my mom living in Minnesota, our Care Manager was someone who was close enough to keep an eye on things. At first she simply made visits and helped mom with her errands. When the Alzheimer’s progressed to the point that more assistance was needed she did the research and helped us decide where mom would get the best care.

Now our Care Manager visits mom every ten days, offering her attentive companionship and helping me coordinate services. Being so familiar with senior care resources in the Twin Cities, the Care Manager is the one person I can call on to sort things out, whether it involves a doctor, therapist, hospital emergency room or any number of little things that come up at the assisted living facility. More importantly, she is a warm, caring person. She’s become a tremendous friend, giving me peace of mind and adding so much to my mother’s quality of life. "

"My cousin and I felt an immediate bond with our care manager. Her extensive knowledge of health care and the related insurance issues was amazing, but it was her empathetic listening and compassion that helped us feel more in control and able to get back on track. When I look back now, I realize it was the process that was used that was key. She really listened to our needs and then presented viable action steps that we could understand and accept. Plus, she followed up with us to ensure we had alternatives whenever we hit a snag. It's been great having someone with our best interests in mind supporting us during a difficult time."

"I don't think my mother and I would have survived without our care manager keeping all the pieces together for us. She's not only been able to coordinate the multitude of appointments with various experts we've needed to see, she's acted as our “interpreter,” cutting through the jargon and making sure we get individualized care. Pathfinder Care Managers really know their stuff and can communicate in a way that is both respectful and effective in getting appropriate action. I recommend them wholeheartedly."

"Pathfinder Care Management/ “Rent A Daughter” is my first choice when an objective analysis of a client’s situation is needed. Since they have no hidden agenda, their professional evaluation removes any bias and eases family tensions. The Care Manager’s strong interpersonal skills allow them to get to the crux of any problem and their ability to quickly offer practical solutions makes dealing with issues less stressful. And, I can depend on them to make the experience a positive one for my client, their family and the caregivers in question. I’ve found my clients’ families are very comfortable working with Pathfinder’s care managers and that their seal of approval means a lot."

"Even though I'm in the medical field and see patients day in and day out, it's different when the patient is your parent. I was frustrated, feeling helpless and hopeless. I knew something was wrong, but didn't know where to go and overwhelmed by the vast amount of care information out there. Our care manager helped me distill the truth and find peace of mind. While her perspective often verified what I already knew, she could also safely challenge me because of her tact. I appreciate how we could talk honestly without any intimidation. This may be her job, but it's also her gift."

"Kathleen and I discovered that our philosophies about long-term care were similar and that our missions complimented each other when we met at an Alzheimer’s care conference in 2002. Both of us are striving to provide individualized solutions to challenges so that people don’t get put in nursing homes unless skilled nursing care is necessary 24/7. Too often we’ve found elderly individuals are placed in nursing homes because they’re isolated, depressed or simply unable to prepare their meals safely. Or their primary caregiver needs a well-deserved respite. While my organization can provide the non-medical home care that allows these individuals to stay in familiar surroundings with safety and comfort, Pathfinder’s expertise is in dealing with the broader issues related to overall care and the family dynamics that can often make decisions difficult. I’d trust Pathfinder implicitly to care for my family."
